[Web News of CAEA] On November 8, 2005, Mr.Sun Qin, Vice Minister of COTIND and Chairman of CAEA, met with the Mr.HIROAKI KITAMURA, Managing Director of Japan-Asia Exchange Association.Both sides exchanged the views regarding the nuclear cooperation  between China and Japan and relevant issues.

Mr.Sun said,  Mr.KITAMURA was an old friend of Chinese people  and had done many mutual beneficial works for enhancing cooperation between China and Japan and closing the relationship between enterprises and people of both sides.   He hoped Mr.KITAMURA could continuously work for exchange between Chinese people and Japanese People.  

At present, Chinese Nuclear Power was at the first stage of speeding up development, he said. China had worked out development layout for nuclear power and relevant industrial sectors. China was going to develop nuclear power technology on its own on the one hand, and on the other hand, it would introduce advanced nuclear power technology from foreign countries. Nuclear Power was related to not only construction issue, but operation, safety, radiation protection and nuclear fuel processing as well. The much experience and lessons learned accumulated by Japanese enterprises were valuable for Chinese nuclear industry. Mr.Sun indicated that due to their advanced technology and serious-minded attitude, the Japanese enterprises were welcome to participate in the Chinese nuclear development program. He hoped both sides could carry out further cooperation in the nuclear energy including the dialogue between the two governmental organizations.  

Mr. KITAMURA debriefed Mr.Sun of the nuclear power development in Japan and expressed his willingness to strengthen the cooperation between two sides and establish effective cooperative framework. He indicated he would make a contribution in this regard. (Article and photo by Gu Xinping)
