[CAEA Net news] On May 20,2005，Mr.Zhang Huazhu, Chairman of CAEA met with Mr.Sokolov, Deputy Director-General IAEA, who came to attend the ICONE-13 in Beijing. Both sides exchanged the views on various issues including how to further improve the cooperation between China and IAEA.

Mr. Zhang expressed his appreciation on the concerted effort made by IAEA and Mr.Solokov to support China’s nuclear industry, and expected  more attentions from IAEA toward the development of China’s peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Meanwhile, he also indicated the willingness on collaboration with IAEA in the fields of nuclear energy.

Mr. Sokolov is very grateful for China’s consistent support on the work of IAEA and paid a high compliment to the achievements of China’s nuclear power development. He also appreciated the precise management and administration of Qinshan Nuclear Power Base. He also deemed the success of ICONE- 13 and believed it would be conductive to the smooth development of nuclear industry worldwide.  （Article and photo by Gu Xinping）
