Mr.Zhang Huazhu met delegates of ICONE-13

[CAEA Net News] The ICONE-13 was officially kicked off in Beijing between May 16-20,2005. Senior governmental officials , presidents and CEOs from many countries, international organizations and well-known nuclear enterprises were present in this significant events.

During the conference, Mr.Zhang Huazhu, Chairman of China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) met with some delegates participating in the conference respectively and exchanged opinions on the various issues commonly concerned.(Article and Photo by Gu Xinping)

Chairman Zhang Huazhu met with Japanese Senator Kanoh Tokio. He said that the valuable experience of developing nuclear energy in Japan could be used by China for reference. Mr. Kanoh Tokio indicated the willingness to promote Sino-Japanese cooperation.

Mr.Zhang Huazhu held a meeting with Mr.Kondo, Chairman of Japan Atomic Commission. Mr.Kondo briefed Mr. Zhang the recent situation about energy planning mapped out by Japanese Government and expected to enhance the collaboration with China in the future.

Mr.Zhang Huazhu met with Mr.John Ritch, Director-General of World Nuclear Association(WNA). He expressed his appreciation to Mr.Ritch for inviting him to attend the International Nuclear Fuel Cycle Conference sponsored by WNA in Hong Kong next April.

Mr.Zhang Huazhu held a meeting with Mr. Lius Echavarri,Director-Generalof OECD/NEA and reiterated that China had consistently maintained active attitude to carry out international cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.

Mr.Zhang Huazhu met with Van Adel, President and CEO of AECL and wished them a good luck on seeking the cooperation opportunity in Chinese nuclear market. Mr. Van Adel expressed the willingness to be part of ambitious nuclear power development of China.
