Wang Yiren, Vice Chairman of CAEA, led a delegation to visit Belgium from September 4 to 5, 2015.

Wang met with the Vice President of Belgium Nuclear Safety Regulatory Agency and introduced on CAEA and the latest development of nuclear energy and application of nuclear technology in China.

Wang was briefed by the Belgium side about the R&D results with the Belgium underground laboratory of geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste, and the MYRRHA project.

The two sides also exchanged views about the preparation for the signature of a Statement of Intent on Strengthening Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.

During the visit, with the company of the SCK-CEN Director General Eric Van Walle, Wang also visited the Underground Laboratory of Geological Repository of High-level Radioactive Waste and the MYRRAH Facility.
