(CAEA Net News) On August 1, CAEA Chairman Sun Qin met with Mr. Olli Heinonen, DDG of IAEA and the delegation led by him. The two sides exchanged views on issues related on nuclear safeguards.

Sun Qin pointed out that China took active participation in safeguards activities sponsored by the Agency by establishing joint training center on nuclear safeguards and nuclear security. China also decided to join the Member State Support Program (MSSP), providing consistent support to the Agency. He also expressed appreciation for the support and assistance from the Agency in terms of nuclear security for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

CAEA and IAEA later signed IAEA Safeguards MSSP.
