[CAEA Net News] on December 12, 2006, Mr. Sun Qin, Chairman of CAEA met with Maosao Niwano, the corporate senior executive vice president of TOSHIBA. Two sides had frank exchange of views about the next-step plan of the Westinghouse Company that won the prior bid of China’s Generation III technological tendering.
Mr. Sun Qin expressed appreciation for his attention to this project, believing that the AP 1000 nuclear power technology is new to the world which will exert great impact on the world nuclear power technological development. He hoped that relevant parties of the Japanese side should accelerate the basic work concerning the project so as to facilitate reaching a framework agreement.
Niwano said that TOSHIBA will spare no effort to support this program and transfer experiences in nuclear power construction and management, advanced tools and data to Westinghouse, while actively providing before-the-job training with a view to making full preparations to promote and facilitate success completion of the project.
