( CAEA Net News), In the Afternoon of December 5,2006, Director General of IAEA, Dr. El Baradei was accompanied by Mr. Sun Qin, Chairman of CAEA and other relevant staff to visit the CIAE and attended the inauguration ceremony for  the CAEA-IAEA Joint Training Center on Nuclear Safeguards and Security.

At the ceremony, Dr. Elbaradei, Mr.Sun Qin，Mr. Yang Changli, Vice President of CNNC, and Mr.Zhao Zhixiang, Director of CIAE delivered speeches respectively.

Mr. Sun Qin said, the establishment of the training center signified a new stage of cooperation between CAEA and IAEA. The two sides would take joint efforts to training talents in the area of nuclear safeguards and security in this center.

Mr. Sun emphasized that, the Chinese Government is dedicated to world peace and development, committed to the establishment of a harmonious world and against all forms of terrorism. China has always been actively supporting IAEA’s efforts to strengthening nuclear security. We are active to the IAEA safeguards support plan. The Center is the first step of China’s full engagement in the support plan.
