[CAEA net news] In the afternoon of March 28, 2006，Mr.Sun Qin, Vice Minister of COSTIND and Chairman of CAEA, met with Daniel Lipman, Senior Vice  President of  AREVA. 

Mr.Sun expressed his welcome to Mr.Lipman and appreciate the efforts made by Westinghouse to participate in the China’s nuclear development. He mentioned that AP1000 had its unique technology characteristics. Up to now, the 3rd generation  technology was not yet finished, Westinghouse should made more efforts to clarify the relevant outstanding issues and streamline its bidding scheme. 

Mr. Lipman briefed Mr.Sun the situation of Nuclear Power development in USA and mentioned that some American utilities had decided to start up the new nuclear power projects in the past 6 months. Among of them, some would favor AP1000 and decide to to apply COL for it. In the meantime , some other countries also showed some interests in AP 1000 technology. He assured that the new ownership of Toshiba would not affect the bidding effort of Westinghouse and later implementation of the contract if Westinghouse won the bid.  （Article/photo by Gu Xinping）
